MY STORY

Welcome to My Little Corner of the Enchanted Forest

Hi, I’m Michelle - Minnesota-born and raised, with roots stretching six generations deep into this beautiful, wild place I call home. The whispering pines, loon calls echoing over still lakes, and hush of falling snow have all shaped the rhythm of my life. Nature grounds me, inspires me, and fuels everything I create.

Back in 2007, I started this blog as a quiet space to document my soapmaking journey. What began as a curiosity in 2002 - learning to craft my own body products - grew into a tiny business, and along the way, this little blog grew too. It became more than a record of recipes or batches. It became a reflection of the slow, intentional life I try to live.

Here, you’ll find more than just soap talk. You’ll find peeks into my blooming garden, musings on herbalism and homemade remedies, family adventures, and stories about the wild creatures I care so deeply for. I believe in making things with heart and purpose, things that nourish the skin, lift the spirit, and feel like a gift from the Earth.

The name The Soap Pixie was born from my lifelong love of magic and the unseen world that lives just at the edges of ours. I’ve always believed there’s more around us than we can see like whispers in the trees, sparkles in the dew, and maybe, just maybe, tiny winged beings hidden in the forest. When my oldest was little, we’d make tiny fairy dolls and dream up stories of the fairies that lived just out of sight. That’s where the magic began. My first business name was Pixie Lee Soaps & Sundries, but I soon wanted something simpler, something that still captured the whimsy. The Soap Pixie just felt right.

Each soap I create is more than just a bar, it’s a small piece of art, a bit of story, a sprinkle of pixie dust for your day. Made in small batches with skin-loving oils and butters, every bar is crafted to nourish both body and spirit. Whether it’s a dreamy floral, an earthy forest blend, or a sugar-sweet swirl of joy, I hope it transforms your daily routine into something a little more enchanted.

If you believe in the power of handmade, the magic of plants, the beauty of ritual, and the importance of protecting the natural world - we’ll get along just fine.

Thanks for stopping by. I’m so glad you’re here.
