Welcome to My Little Corner of the Enchanted Forest

Hi, I’m Michelle! I was born and raised right here in Minnesota, and my family goes back six generations in this beautiful state. I absolutely love it here, the tall pines, the sound of loons on the lake, and even the blistering cold winters. Nature is my happy place and where I get so much of my inspiration.

Back in 2007, I started this blog simply to keep track of my soapmaking. I actually began learning how to make my own body products back in the 1990s, just out of curiosity, and it eventually turned into a tiny business. Over the years, this little blog grew right along with it. It became less of a blog all about soap and more of a scrapbook of the simple, slow-paced life I love to live.

You'll find a lot more than just soap talk around here. I love sharing peeks of my garden when it’s in full bloom, playing around with herbs and home remedies, sharing family updates, and talking about the wild animals I love so much. I’m a big believer in making things by hand, growing what I can, and finding joy in the little things.

So, where did the name The Soap Pixie come from? Well, I’ve always loved a little bit of magick and whimsy. When my oldest kid was little, we used to make tiny fairy dolls together and make up all kinds of stories about the fairies hiding in the woods. When I first started out, my business was called Pixie Lee Soaps & Sundries, but I eventually wanted something a little simpler that still kept that fun, magickal feel. The Soap Pixie was just perfect.

I still make my soaps in small batches, using nourishing oils and butters and all the little touches that make handmade soap special. But these days, The Soap Pixie is about so much more than soap. It’s a place to share the things I love; gardening, herbs, making things by hand, seasonal traditions, recipes, nature, and the simple pleasures of home.

If you love handmade things, playing in the dirt, and finding a little magick in the everyday, we are going to get along great.
