Welcome to My Little Corner of the Enchanted Forest

Hi, I’m Michelle! I was born and raised right here in Minnesota, and my family goes back six generations in this beautiful state. I absolutely love it here - the tall pines, the sound of the loons on the lake, and even the blistering cold winters. Nature is my happy place and where I get all my inspiration.

Back in 2007, I started this blog just to keep track of my soapmaking. I actually started learning how to make my own body products back in 1990s out of pure curiosity, and it ended up turning into a tiny business. Over the years, this little blog grew right along with it. It became less of a blog all about soap and more of a scrapbook of the simple, slow-paced life I love to live.

You'll find a lot more than just soap talk around here. I love sharing peeks of my garden when it’s in full bloom, playing around with herbs and home remedies, sharing family updates, and talking about the wild animals I love so much. I’m a big believer in making things by hand.

So, where did the name The Soap Pixie come from? Well, I’ve always loved a little bit of magick and whimsey. When my oldest kid was little, we used to make tiny fairy dolls together and make up all kinds of stories about the fairies hiding in the woods. When I first started out, my business was called Pixie Lee Soaps & Sundries, but I eventually wanted something a little simpler that still kept that fun, magickal feel. The Soap Pixie was just perfect.

I make all of my soaps in small batches using really nourishing oils and butters that your skin will love. Whether you like sweet florals, earthy forest scents, or just a fun, colorful swirl, my hope is that they bring a little extra joy to your everyday routine.
